Gwen Stefani surprising the audience by bringing out No Doubt for her encore = AWESOMMME. I sooo wish I was there. Although, I would have never bought tickets for a Gwen Stefani concert. I'm not a big fan of her solo. But No Doubt was like my favorite band when I was younger. I'm so happy they're back.
Yeah, after seeing this, I totally dug up my old No Doubt CDs.
I don't know how it happened. A week without LJ turned into a month... which turned into like 3. I missed LJ a lot. I missed all you guys!! There were so many times when I wanted to come on to update about something, but I just didn't have time. School has really taken over my life. I just want to go to college so bad.
It's summer now. Although, even my summer is going to be busy.
What's happened since my last update: - I went to NYC. I saw: Talk Radio, Company [RaUUUUULLLL!!!], Jersey Boys [with JLY!!!!!! I was there at 5AM for student rush! Got the best seats!], Grey Gardens [amazing. Christine is just a-MAH-zing], Curtains, Spring Awakening [the cast is just sooo talented. I love this show!], LoveMusik [note: don't see the 3rd preview of a show]. -I saw Jersey Boys once more in SF with the Sherry Cast [the one that is now in LA] -Saw Jersey Boys again with the new cast in SF [the new Frankie Valli pretty much can't get any cuter <3] -I MET TIM GUNN. Yes, the Tim Gunn. -I got accepted to this pre-college summer program at an art college. I'm goanna be studying fashion design. -I got a 96% on my Junior Research Paper for English class. I was so stressed out over that. Blame that paper as one of the reasons why I wasn't on LJ. -I got a 99% on my Spanish Final. Reason #2 for not being on LJ. This meant a lot because Spanish used to be my hardest class. -I got 4 certificates for "outstanding achievement" this year: Chemistry, English III, Spanish III, and Modern US History. Can't believe it. But then again, I worked my ass off this year.
Andddd... [I found this out just yesterday] I'm a new member of Nordstrom's Fashion Board! I'm so excited about this!
So that's the summary of my life these past few months. Now I gotta go find out what's been going on with you guys...
current mood: happy to be back current music: Rufus Wainwright * Sanssouci [pick up his new CD! It's awesome!]
I hate having to disappear for like a month. It sucks not being able to go on LJ everyday. I had no school today and wanted to see what's up with my flist... so how's it going?
Oh, and some exciting news: I'M GOING TO NYC IN THE SPRING.
Shows I want to see: Spring Awakening Company Jersey Boys [I have to see JLY!!] LoveMusik Les Miserables Grey Gardens Curtains
And you can bet your ass I'll be posting EVERYDAY during my trip.
Dear editors of Grease: You're The One That I Want,
JASON CELAYA IS HOT WHY DON'T YOU SHOW HIM MORE?!?!?!?
thanks,
kai
***
Seriously, I got so excited to watch it and they only showed him in the background or during those annoying "lets-show-20-people-in-five-seconds" parts. But, he did move on to "Grease Academy" [I know, so cheesy!], so they better hopefully will show him more in future episodes.
Just to clarify, Jason Celaya is the hothotHOT Altar Boy I saw in NYC last summer. Yeah.

It's only Sunday. Second day of break. Already... I'M SO BORED. I actually did some work for my religion and spanish classes yesterday. Yeah, that's how bored I was. And today my stomach hurts. Y'know what I did today? I actually played on my brother's PS3. So what's everyone else doing?
Spring Awakening is just amazing. I thought it wouldn't be so good since I had some pretty high expectations from the reviews I had read. But it's just fuckin' awesome. I really hope I can go to NYC this spring. Haha. Spring Awakening. This spring. I'm so funny. Yeah, um, I just really want to see this show now! The on-stage seats sound cool. I mean, the actors actually sit next to you? I also still want to see JLY in Jersey Boys. I've seen three Frankie Vallis, oh, and plus THE REAL ONE... I need to see JLY. I hope he's still with the show then.
Hey, it's finally winter break! This week was terrible, but I'm goanna try to get lots of rest during my 2 weeks off. Hope everyone has a great time these holidays...
Went shopping yesterday and got the CUTEST Michael Kors boots from Nordstrom:
<3 them.
I spent a lot of time today looking at colleges and thinking about what I want to do when I'm older. My mom has been bugging me and she's getting worried, I think. And I've come to the conclusion that there's no way I can work some 9-to-5 job that I'll be great at and I'll get my paycheck every month and yay no worries. I have to work in a creative field. And what is that creative field? Not too big a surprise... FASHION. I have been trying to avoid that industry as a career for myself because I know it's competitive and tough. But I have to be true to myself... this is what I've wanted to do since I was a little girl. Working in the fashion industry doesn't mean I want to be a fashion designer, however [although I may decide to pursue that later in life]. I'm thinking more towards the business side of fashion. That can mean marketing, merchandising, manufacturing management... the jobs that may be more behind-the-scenes, but definitely crucial and essential to the growth and success of a company. I'm so happy I'm able to actually say this. For the longest time it's been in the back of my mind. I've never been able to say it out loud because... everyone has those dreams that they think everyone will laugh at if they ever told anyone. This is my dream. I only told one of my close friends about this dream, and he told me to go for it, and that's what I'm goanna do.

It sucks not being able to watch Vanished on Mondays just because of homework. I've recorded it, though. I'm definitely noticing more work this year...
some nice news: All four Jersey Boys renew contracts - I need to see these boys again... I haven't even gotten to see JLY. Maybe I'll be able to go spring vacation?
Okay, so I guess everyone has already heard about Ashlee Simpson doing Chicago in London. I still don't understand how it's goanna work out. I mean, she couldn't even perform concerts a few times a week, how is she goanna handle 8 shows a week? Plus I really don't like her voice. I guess we'll see how it turns out. I have to say though, the pictures of her as Roxy are looking good. She just looks so different after the nosejob.
There's a rumor that Meryl Streep will be playing Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd. They're getting all these fantastic actors that you can't say anything bad about...
And for anyone who hasn't seen it yet [plus paivilo who will watch it again anyways]:
SHOES.

I think its inevitable that as we read each other's journals we create mental pictures of each other. Post this on your own journal to find out who your friends see when they read about your life.
Two Rules: 1) The person must be in the movies or on TV (but doesn't have to be an actor/actress). The person can be specific to a role (e.g. Jennifer Elhe's Elizabeth Bennent) or just the person themself. 2) You have to post a link to a picture of said person in the comments.
These castings can be based on things in the person's personality or on physical traits you know they have.
Do it, people! Post it in your own journal and I'll do it!
Both Sweeney Todd and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels closed yesterday. Two great shows. I LOVED Sweeney. So well done. I didn't see DRS, but I recently [around the time they announced it would close] rediscovered my love for it. I used to love singing "Great Big Stuff".
It was a shame it couldn't last...

I haven't been able to go on LJ for a long time...yeah, okay, a few days is nothing, but so much happened this week:
So school started on Monday. I liked seeing everyone again. My classes seem good, the only problem is that the location of my classes stresses me out. We have two buildings and my classes go from building 1 to 2 to 1 to 2... THE WHOLE DAY. But I'll have to get used to it. At least the order of our classes change every week so maybe the next 2 weeks will be better.
I was pretty excited for Celebrity Duets [I'll admit it!]. It seemed cheesey in the beginning, but, overall, I really enjoyed the show. AND OMFG JAI ROCKED IT. I mean, others really surprised me [Lucy Lawless, Carlton], but Jai was just soooo amazing. And even though others were good, Jai is definitely #1. And I'm not being biased! I'm being biased maybe about Hal Sparks, however. I really enjoyed him. I loved it when he would rock out.
AND OMG JAI SINGING "SAY MY NAME". I used to LOVE Destiny's Child! I loved that song. I screamed when I realized they'd be singing that. He was so good in it. I felt like I fell in love with him all over again [yes, that's cheesey I know], since I haven't been thinking about him that much lately.
Project Runway - SOOOO glad Angela's out!
Yesterday, around 9:20, I was switching back and forth between a Project Runway rerun and Inked. I put on Inked, then switch back to PR, Wait, was that...?, then back to Inked. Guess who was on Inked getting a tattoo? JAI FREAKIN' GOT A TATTOO. I was sitting there with my mouth open, watching him talk about why he wanted it and explaining the tattoo. I liked it because it seemed as if the tattoo had great meaning for him. It's a little hypocritical. He got "LIVE TRUTH." on the back of his neck. I really like the tattoo, I just hope he's able to achieve this. I was so surprised, though. But I think it's great. Tattoos are sexy. Especially ones with meaning.
So I get off the computer and go downstairs. I sit on the couch for a while and then ask my mom if my Project Runway DVD from netflix came in the mail. She says she didn't check, so I go outside to check myself. I open the mailbox, take out the mail, and stand in front of it sifting through the mail. What do I find?
A big white envelope addressed to me in JLY's handwriting [yes, I know his handwriting].
OMFG!! I run back inside and show my mom [I'm going crazy] as I set down the rest of the mail. I sit on the floor and begin to open it gently. I find a card with the JB marquee on it. It reads:
So sorry you missed me in JERSEY BOYS. You're right: the role is so hard, but near impossible when you're sick. Hope you get a chance to catch me in this in the future or maybe someplace else!
Yours, JLY
BE STILL MY HEART. Seriously, how sweet can this guy be? Total sweetheart. I also got a signed headshot, which I'm going to frame and put on the wall. Ahh so awesome.

Stars such as Cheech Marin, Lucy Lawless and Alfonso Ribeiro will step up to the mic on the new Simon Cowell-produced reality show, "Celebrity Duets."
On Tuesday, Fox announced the list of famous faces who'll be trying to hit the high notes on the series, which debuts Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. ET.
WWE Champion Chris Jericho, Gold Medal-winning gymnast Carly Patterson, "Queer Eye's" pop culture guru Jai Rodriguez, actor/comedian Hal Sparks and actress Lea Thompson ("Back to the Future") are also among the eight celebrities who will compete on the show, hosted by Wayne Brady ("Whose Line Is It Anyway?").
The celebrities will be paired with a different recording artist each week.
Michael Bolton, Macy Gray, and Patti LaBelle, Clint Black, Belinda Carlisle, Peter Frampton, Wynonna Judd, Chaka Khan, Richard Marx, Brian McKnight, Aaron Neville, Smokey Robinson, Randy Travis, Dionne Warwick, and Lee Ann Womack are some of the singers who will appear on the show.
Producer David Foster, who guest starred on Cowell's other reality show "American Idol," will be a judge for the weekly singing competition. Viewers will vote for their favorite duet after each performance episode, and the results will be announced live on the weekly results show, the first being Sept. 8.
The winning celebrity will receive $100,000 to be donated to the charity of his or her choice. Fox says additional recording artists and other show participants will be announced.
JAI AND HAL SPARKS ON THE SAME SHOW. I don't think it's really a good career move for either of them, but I guess we'll just have to see what happens. Both of them, as well as Chris Jericho, have sung before [in bands, Jai on bway]. I guess it's just that they're not recording artists. I'm actually excited to watch this. The 29th is soon...but before:
I PUT MONEY ON JAI WINNING.

First, something to make defygravity008 very happy. Stephen Sondheim wants a VOICE TEST for Johnny Depp before he approves the making of the movie. He will not approve it if Johnny Depp can't sing [so he can't have somebody else sing for him!]. I'm kinda gettting into seeing Johnny Depp as Sweeney, so now I'm kinda hoping he can sing. What I imagine his singing voice to sound like is actually pretty good. 'Not sure about those intense moments in the show, though. *shrugs* We'll just have to see. story here
Norbert Leo Butz is goanna be in a movie!! I forgot how much I liked him. Two nights ago I was watching the DRS Tony performance for the millionth time and remembering how funny he is [and how he forgot the new line for the performance!]. And then last night I found out. Yay! The movie will also have Steve Carell [the office, 40-year-old virgin] and Dane Cook.
I thought this was cool: Shooting Stars: John Lloyd Young. Broadway.com gave some Tony Nominees cameras to take photos of the night. Most nominees took like 20 photos, but JLY took 75. Aw, I love him! He took photos of the randomest things, yeah, take a look. It's funny. He's so fuckin' awesome.
I was also surprised to see what's on his iPod: "Rufus Wainwright, Mozart's Requiem, The Four Seasons Anthology, Jersey Boys (!), Chicago (the band), lots of great 70s singles, and three mix CDs a fan made me of original recordings of every Leading Actor in a Musical Tony winner since the first Tonys in 1947 all through this year, 2006 -- fascinating." JLY likes Rufus Wainwright! Oh-em-gee... I would have never thought I'd have that in common with him. Then again, Rufus Wainwright is awesome and how can you not like him? Oh, and the mix CDs sound cool, too.
And in other JLY news [last, I promise], he's back in Jersey Boys! He performed last night. I'm so glad he's feeling better. Now I have to go back to NYC to see him!
I'm nearly finished with my summer homework. I've begun reading my last book and I only have two assignments left [they only take a couple of hours to complete]. I'm so glad I'm back on track. The homework actually isn't that bad.
I don't know if I've ever said this, but I'm not really into movies. Like, the last movies I saw in theatres were Devil Wears Prada, Producers, and RENT. But I'm really excited to see Accepted just because Justin Long is in it and he's awesome. I used to watch him in Ed and he was sooo funny. He played a student and he'd get all nervous all the time. Did anybody watch that show? I wish they'd put it on DVD- I loved it.
Funny video:
And, yes, that's Jay Wilkison from RENT.
Another video, this one with Daniel Reichard [Jersey Boys love!] singing "She's a Dixie Chick":
I love his dance at the end!
